The Tapestry technique utilizes very finely pulled pieces of glass called ‘stringers’.  Stingers come in thicknesses of 1mm or 2mm.  They are lined up very carefully on sheet glass and fired to a temperature that just barely fuses them to the piece below so as to retain their thin lines of color.  When that piece is then cut into thin strips on a wet saw and re-arranged the resulting piece takes on a tapestry-like look with myriad colors and patterns emerging.
The manipulation of those patterns is what separates every piece from the others and pulls you in as your eye explores such fine lines of color all coming together to create one of the most unique looks in glass design.
